Joseph Benedikt Gedler, Füssen, Germany

Gedler, Joseph Benedikt (I). Born 1755, died 1830, Füssen, Germany. Son and pupil of Johann Anton Gedler. Preferred the Stainer model, well-made and with no unnecessary exaggerations. Scrolls slightly inferior. Varnish generally dark, thin, and opaque. https://www.bromptons.co/reference/results/details/violin-by-joseph-benedikt-gedler-fassen-1807-c.html

A well built master violin in very good condition, perfectly set up. The instrument has no open cracks. Beautiful pleasent sound with no unnatural or harsh overtones in the upper frequency range. Beautiful attractive and subtly antiqued original red/brown varnish. This is a great instrument, with a rich responsive and strong sound, powerful with plenty of romantic personality and character, so it can be used as a solo-instrument, chamber, orchestra or as a fine study violin.

This violin comes from the beginning of 19th century and was restored in 2015 by master László Lakatos at the Rosé Instrument Shop in Budapest. This instrument is a professional tool as you should be aware of any possible adjustments like a new bridge, strings or whatever is required to fit a personal setup. This instrument has previously been repaired by Eugene Mccoy in 1922 in Staples, Minnesota, as indicated by label on the inside. In the last restoration, the following were included:

- New neckpiece and fretboard which is sanded to perfection - angle and measurements of the neck are set to the standards of the Stradivari school, so it can be adjusted down to a thinner shape upon request.
- New soundpost
- New bridge
- New saddle
- New garniture (chinrest, tailpiece, tuning keys & bottom peg)
- COMES With A New SET OF Larsen Virtuoso Medium

The violin will be carefully packed. The bridge will be put down, the violin will be wrapped into soft paper and then placed in a violin case for protection. In the box, which will be soft with some soft material will be enough space between the case and each side of the box.

There are no open cracks on this masterpiece, so you shouldn't have concerns about the risk of expensive repairs on the instrument. This amazing violin has a very special sound.
